Funded Opportunities for Europeans 18-30

If you hold a European passport and are between the ages of 18-30, and are willing to give 9 months or a year to a placement, you qualify for funding under the European Volunteer Scheme. You need to be passionate about Jesus and young people, need to be mature and flexible enough to cope with a cross cultural context and prepared to commit come what may, for at least nine months.  ICY sends you to one of our friends in another European country. You get all your board and lodging covered, one return flight and your insurances paid. You even get a weekly allowance.

Present opportunities include:

Germany: Working with an amazing Salvation Army Center in Chemnitz. The centre is the hub of the community with an excellent childrens' work called McTurtle, coffee shop and drop in, and youth centre including non alcoholic bar, recording studio and beach volleyball court. The church is actually a partnership between the Salvation Army and Jesus Freaks! If can't imagine that, then you better go and see for yourself. It's amazing! You will probably do best if you have some German language or a commitment to learn German.

Finland: Youth work based in a suburb of Helsinki out of a charismatic church but as part of a local church partnership. It includes schools, church based and open youth work. Don't worry, you don't need to know Finnish, although you might know enough to impress your mates when you're done.

UK with ICY UK on the Greenhouse Programme. Includes six inspirational residential training conferences per year and the opportunity to carry on and study Youth Ministry and Missional Theology at Bachelors level if you wish. There are some additional costs for mission trips, and Brits can also get non-EVS subsidised places.

Poland based on a beautiful youth camp and part of a dynamic church plant out of a converted cinema. Depending upon when you're there, there are youth camps and weekends to coordinate. There is also a great recording studio and media centre for the more artistically inclined. No Polish needed bu t you must want to learn.

Other partners include ministries in Sweden, Holland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Spain and an environmental project in Portugal.

It may be possible for you to get a low cost flight to visit. To secure the funding we need at least four months for submission of forms so plan ahead on this one. It's a fantastic opportunity! Don't miss out!
