In 2007/08 ICY’s UK partner MNet is working together with Together in Mission and Birmingham Christian College, (see below for details), to give you the chance to study full time for a Masters in Missional Leadership but in the practical context of youth ministry and global mission.
We aim to equip you with the opportunity to
Receive a training and qualification relevant to all forms of subsequent Christian ministry.
Work out what you are learning and gain practical experience.
Bear fruit in a mission context.
Either serve in your own church or in another context where youth ministry wouldn't otherwise happen.
Serve young people by seeing them coming to faith and growing in faith.
Do it all debt free!
We have church placements in the UK and can take existing UK based youth workers on the course.
Have a recognized accredited first degree or will turn 25 years old in the next 12 months.
Have a North American, European or Oceanian passport. We haven’t the facilities or visa clearance to process applicants of other nationalities.
Have a passion for Christ, reaching young people, and mission.
Have a call to Christian ministry
Are already engaged in full time youth ministry or have experience and gifting in youth work, and a readiness for a leadership position.
Want to train and engage in practical ministry and also study for a credible, flexible and Biblical qualification while you do it.
Want to be part of a global mission and perhaps be based in a cross cultural context.
Have the aptitude and commitment for hard work and study.
Are prepared for at least a two to three year commitment.
Otherwise you may like to consider:
The Diploma
program, which offers the same opportunities without the accreditation. There are limited tuition fees to raise and these can be offset against a weekly allowance, as well as no academic or age requirements. You get your work and living costs covered and a weekly allowance. You will also be given a challenging role in a choice of countries, which suits your experience and gifting. ICY is committed to releasing emerging leaders in churches around the world to reach young people with the love of Christ, and to offer those emerging leaders the very best support and training available by:
1. Networking emerging leaders in supportive churches where they can minister and learn safely with good supervision and pastoral support,
2. Normally as a part of a local team under the care of an experienced supervisor and tutor who can meet together at least once a week to study, work, pray, worship and relax together,
3. Then drawing all those across a wider region or nation for regular conferences of lectures, worship, inspirational input, and fellowship,
4. To offer a Biblical, Missiologically focused and respected Masters, lectured on the conferences and tutored in the weekly local meetings
We find a placement church for you, or else providing we and your church can provide the support you need, you can join in the program from your home church. The church with whom you work will provide you with the following:
A well-defined youth ministry opportunity which must include working among unchurched young people.
Good pastoral support and line management.
Suitable board and lodging, (if away from home)
Wherever possible, access to other local workers with whom to meet, study and work weekly as team, and to mentor for weekly support in work and study.
Practical support and affirmation of regular residential conferences for study and spiritual growth, and wider global mission opportunities if desired.
Weekly allowances wherever possible of at least $100 per week (if away from home), and a fuller package depending upon your experience and circumstances.
Payment of your training fees, all work expenses and travel to and from weekly meetings and residential conferences.
You will need to cover your own travel costs to and from your placement church and where relevant any visa and health insurance costs.
