In 2007 we are looking for a small team to study and minister in and around Canberra, Australia. Drawing together evangelical churches of all denominations, we are hoping to place students in local churches of a wide range of denominations across a wide range of communities. Aussies will be able to get student loans to study and minister in their back yard. For the rest of you, there are the costs of getting there, but imagine a land of sun, sport and laid back Aussies, and you’ll start saving!
As a new program there will almost certainly be challenges, and this option therefore is only really suited to those with a pioneering spirit. If you are looking to join a more established program we would strongly recommend the UK. If you are excited by the challenge of being in at the start of a new thing however we’d be keen to hear from you. Ultimately our hope is to develop a model which can be extended to Outback Australia. So if your spirit isn’t just pioneering but crazily so, then drop us a line!
We will be offering two options initially. We want to offer a Bachelors in Theology in partnership with the Australian College of Ministry. This is an established course which is very practical, and Biblical, with a focus on personal formation. It is simply a great course, with globally recognized accreditation through the Sydney School of Divinity. However if this isn’t for you, then there is also an option to learn through the experience of ministry along with some unaccredited input.
The program should work in the same way as that in the UK, and our aim is to start placing team members in Canberra in early 07, and to start the accredited training program as soon as we can after that. We are particularly keen to hear from Aussies and Canberrians who want to participate, whether from their home church or otherwise.
