Combination of accredited study with practical youth ministry as part of a pilot program based in Nashville TN click here
Unaccredited Discipleship and Urban Ministry Training One Year Training Programs in British Columbia and Western New York State. For more details click here
New for January 2008 ICY is piloting a program in Nashville which combines church based practical youth ministry with an accredited Bachelors in Theology undergraduate degree, and we are looking for a small group of about 15 students with whom to pioneer this exciting new concept of ministry, training and study.
You
can start any time over the year and we have placement
possibilities at a range of churches including Baptist,
Church of Christ and Calvary Chapel. If you are
Tennessee based, it could be possible for you to study
and train from your home church. Just email Colin
Piper to discuss it
The program is based upon the proven European model
which has been piloted in the UK over the last 2 years.
In it you will be placed with supportive churches to
participate in their youth ministry programs under well
supervised leadership and accountability structures.
Each student will be fully engaged in local church youth
ministry for 25 hours a week but then one day a week
brought together with the other students for a
"cluster day".
The
"cluster day" will be led by ICY America
Director, singer/songwriter Lucas Parry, with regular
input from ICY Executive Directors Colin and Melissa
Piper. It
will include a morning of lectures, a fellowship lunch,
worship, sharing and prayer, mentoring, tutorial time,
and planning together. It will provide the context for
the accredited study input, training and mentoring, and
networking of a team of young leaders committed to work
together across church and denominational boundaries for
the good of the kingdom and young people. Studying as a
team also encourages you to complete the course! Iron
sharpens iron.
As well as the 25 hours youth ministry, and
"cluster day" you will need to set aside up to
ten hours a week to study. There is no written exam but
your work is assessed through assignments. To gain a
full honors degree takes three full years but at the end
of it you will have not only a B(Th), but have three
years experience of having applied it all in a practical
placement. And hopefully be pretty much debt free into
the bargain.
Included in each year's program is an intensive
residential global conference, bringing students
together from all over the world. The venue in 2008 will
be England and all your costs for this are included in
the package, including travel and insurances.
We ask you to pay your tuition
fees of $4000 per year and a further $1250 a year to
cover the global conference costs, and flights to the
conference. You will receive a weekly allowance of
approximately $50-75 which you can offset against your
fees reducing the final cost to just a few thousand
dollars. ICY can also help you in your fund raising
strategy.

Based in Western New York, the ICY partner Pure For God started Training Youth Ministers, (TYM) in 2005. This year a team of about 20 is training and ministering in both rural and urban settings across the region. The opportunities in both contexts are diverse, challenging and exciting. You will also though be part of a very dynamic and caring team. Pure For God have a particular emphasis on teaching young people to be holy, prayerful and mission focused, and if you share this vision then you’re in for a great time. You are provided with board and lodging within a church and pay just a nominal fee for your training which lasts for one year.
